But everyone is passable and their singing works with the mood of the film and their performances (from what I can tell so far with these few clips). And I do agree with you, Brian: Ed Sanders has a lovely voice, but his lack of expression left me cold. The scene may work in context when we see the whole film.

Well, I guess we can expect two completely different reviews of this film from you and Daniel. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the critics (and the general public) receive this film.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6270241449292288965.post-85854753234904877922007-11-27T14:28:00.000-08:002007-11-27T14:28:00.000-08:00I do agree about Ed Sanders. I was quite perplexed about his facials.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6270241449292288965.post-10581555920634536742007-11-27T14:12:00.000-08:002007-11-27T14:12:00.000-08:00It looks like a very well-directed film, but I'm s...It looks like a very well-directed film, but I'm still not very optimistic. First of all, the Mrs. Lovett makeup is waaaaaaay overboard. EVERY scene has that ridiculous mascara and pasty skin. Second, I still can't stand Johnny, and Helena isn't bad, but I was hoping for a knockout vocal performance. Mrs. Lovett is, after all, a fantastic vocal part. Last, I thought that Ed Sanders was great vocally, and I'm thrilled that they're using a kid as Toby. However, he has NO facial expressions when he sings.

Overall, I'd say that I'm disappointed, but I'll still see the movie to make sure. Sigh.Brian Ericksonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02320947185724251602noreply@blogger.com
