Here are the scripts nominated for the 2008 WGA Awards:
Original Screenplay
Woody Allen - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Dustin Lance Black - Milk
Joel Coen & Ethan Coen - Burn After Reading
Tom McCarthy - The Visitor
Robert D. Siegel - The Wrestler
Adapted Screenplay
Simon Beaufoy - Slumdog Millionaire
Peter Morgan - Frost/Nixon
Christopher Nolan & Jonathan Nolan - The Dark Knight
Eric Roth - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
John Patrick Shanley - Doubt
Notes: The Coens once again pick up a nomination for their genius writing revisiting the dark comedy genre. Woody Allen proves he's still in the game, and great for Tom McCarthy picking up a nom. Will this hurt WALL-E's chances? For the Adapted category, no surprises here (I picked out all 5 in my predix), so The Dark Knight are continuing to pile up the Guild nominations, very important for the nominee ballots. If Christopher Nolan picks up a nom for the DGA tomorrow, will we see The Dark Knight for Best Picture at the Oscars? Who knows?
Well, what do you think?

i was very pleased to see the WG ignored jenny lumet's overpraised screenplay for 'rachel getting married.' anne hathaway and rosemary dewitt's performances were the real deal, but nothing else about that movie rang true. i found most of it excruciating. i have fallen out of like with jonathan demme.
i was really hoping 'in bruges' would not be forgotten by the writers, but when the studio completely failed to market and distribute it, i shouldn't be surprised. not sure 'vicky cristina' belongs here, but i know they love woody, even for a fairly inconsequential though enjoyable film like this. penelope cruz redeemed it for me.
