Little Miss Sunshine and The Departed have walked away with Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted screenplay, respectively, from the Writer's Guild of America. This more than makes up for LMS being oddly snubbed a Best Screenplay nomination at the Golden Globes, and puts it up to frontrunner territory that category, and also a VERY possible winner of Best Picture. Now it's Sunshine vs. Departed. It's been something like 75 years since a movie has won Best Picture without being nominated for Best Director or Best Film Editing, but, as Johnny Alba said on The Oscar Igloo, LMS has already defied every piece of Academy logic. We'll see...
